The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have launched the pilot phase of the One-Point Air Travelers project, enabling citizens to complete entry procedures at their airport of departure. The first phase connects Zayed International Airport and Bahrain International Airport.
The initiative allows pre-departure clearance through biometric verification, electronic connectivity, e-gates and advanced passenger data processing, reducing congestion and shortening waiting times upon arrival. The project was approved under the GCC framework and may be expanded across member states following evaluation.
Officials said the system is designed to enhance mobility, strengthen tourism and bilateral trade, and support deeper customs and security integration, positioning both airports as advanced regional transit hubs within a digitally connected GCC.
