UAE expects Canada CEPA to add USD 8.7bn to GDP by 2033

The UAE expects its Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Canada to add about USD 8.7 billion to its gross domestic product, and to lift UAE exports to Canada by around USD 11.8 billion, by 2033, according to Foreign Trade Minister Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

The signed agreement covers roughly 99% of existing bilateral trade by value and removes tariffs on 97% of tariff lines. Non-oil trade between the two countries reached about USD 4.2 billion last year, growing by more than a fifth, and rose a further 18% in the first half of 2026. Al Zeyoudi said it is the first CEPA the UAE has signed with a G7 member.

Companies from both countries are negotiating deals worth US$15 billion, while the UAE has announced USD 50 billion in planned investments in Canada, concentrated in energy, logistics and real estate. Data centres are expected to lead the next phase.
