South African investment in Dubai surpasses AED 1bn over five years

South African investment in Dubai has exceeded AED 1 billion over the past five years, spanning key sectors including information and communications technology, pharmaceuticals, and food industries, according to Dubai Chambers.

The figures were disclosed by Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, on the sidelines of the Dubai–South Africa Business Forum in Johannesburg.

The forum was part of the 13th trade mission organised by Dubai Chambers to African markets since 2023 under its New Horizons initiative, which aims to help businesses explore opportunities and build long-term partnerships across the continent. A delegation of 24 Dubai-based companies participated in the forum to identify investment and trade prospects in South Africa.

Al Shamsi said Dubai Chambers' representative office in South Africa plays a central role in supporting market entry, and expressed confidence that bilateral investment flows will continue to grow as economic cooperation deepens.
