Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has completed two electricity transmission projects worth more than AED 341 million, while 13 further schemes representing over AED 725 million of investment progress across the emirate.
The larger completed project involved laying 71.7km of 132kV underground cables to connect seven main substations in the airport area, at a cost of AED 235 million. SEWA also finished an upgrade of its 220kV overhead transmission lines for AED 106.5 million.
Works in the pipeline include new substations at Al Shanouf, Al Ghubaiba and Al Nahda, plus the rerouting of 13.4km of overhead transmission lines at Al Shanouf, with nine other projects at various stages of design and construction.
The spending tracks rising demand on Sharjah's network: SEWA connected electricity to 2,497 new projects in the first half of 2026 and extended its medium- and low-voltage network by more than 167.6km, building on 3,508 project connections across the emirate in 2025.
