A new competition has been launched in Qatar to improve the startup culture and attract talent from around the world.
Led by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council, and the European Innovation Academy, the three-week virtual program is aimed at inspiring students to develop social entrepreneurship startups.
Some of the standout contributions from the program's debut included an eco-friendly bike-sharing platform, a multisensory kit to help those with accessibility challenges explore culture and heritage, and a digital platform to connect humanitarian aid directly with those in need during natural disasters.
The Start for Good program featured lectures, workshops, and mentoring, guiding participants through key stages of business development. The winning teams received scholarships to attend European Innovation Academy boot camps this year, where they will further hone their entrepreneurial skills and tackle real-world challenges.
