The UAE has launched the first phase of its blue visa system, a 10-year residency visa aimed at individuals making significant contributions to environmental sustainability.
The blue visa is designed to recognise environmental advocates, researchers, global award winners, as well as members of NGOs or companies committed to sustainability.
The blue visa follows the success of the golden visa and green residency programs which were introduced to attract skilled professionals and investors. By extending long-term residency to sustainability pioneers, the UAE aims to strengthen its role as a global leader in environmental innovation and climate action.
The program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP). As part of this initial phase, 20 sustainability thought leaders and innovators will be granted the blue visa. Eligible individuals can apply directly through the ICP or be nominated by the relevant UAE authorities.
