DXB still world’s busiest international airport

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has maintained its position as the world’s busiest international airport for 2024, with 60.2 million available seats. This marks a 7% year-on-year increase in airline capacity and a 12% rise compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels. OAG calculates the busiest international airports using international airline capacity only, excluding domestic flights.

The latest OAG report confirms DXB’s strong performance, securing the top spot in international airline capacity once again after holding the title in 2023 and 2019. DXB’s growth highlights the UAE’s dominant role in the aviation sector, underscoring Dubai’s strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and operational efficiency.

London Heathrow (LHR) claimed second place for international flights with 48.4 million seats, seeing a 4% capacity increase compared to 2023, while Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) moved into third place, with 41.6 million seats.
