Dubai firms eye Africa expansion

Dubai Chamber of Commerce has launched its 2026 ‘In Focus’ series with an event aimed at helping local companies explore expansion opportunities in Ethiopia, Ghana, and South Africa.

Dubai’s non-oil trade with Ethiopia reached AED 6.6 billion in 2024, marking 90% annual growth. Trade with Ghana rose 75% to AED 24.7 billion, while non-oil trade with South Africa grew 20% to AED 29 billion.

The session attracted more than 228 participants and outlined key trade and investment prospects, alongside practical guidance on market entry and doing business across the three countries. The event also introduced the ‘New Horizons’ initiative, which supports Dubai-based companies through curated trade missions, in-market meetings, and engagement with potential partners to unlock international growth opportunities.
