Dubai's Al Maktoum International Airport project is accelerating rapidly, with the onsite workforce expected to grow from its current 9,000 to approximately 120,000 at peak construction capacity, according to Engineer Suzanne Al Anani, CEO of Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects.
Total work hours have exceeded 10 million over the past 15 months, encompassing more than 17,000 concrete piles, 45 million cubic metres of excavation, and approximately 4.5 million cubic metres of concrete works.
Major contract packages worth a combined AED 55 billion are due to be awarded by year-end, covering substructure works for the Western Passenger Terminal, the fourth aircraft concourse, the Automated People Mover system, and the Baggage Handling System, among others.
Upon completion, the airport will handle more than 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo annually, operating across five independent runways, two terminals, and seven concourses linked to over 430 aircraft stands.
