Abu Dhabi to launch air taxis this year

Abu Dhabi is set to become a pioneer in urban air mobility with the deployment of the first fleet of electric air taxis this year. The piloted, four-passenger aircraft aim to slash a 60-minute car journey down to around 10 minutes.

The initiative between US-based Archer Aviation and Abu Dhabi Aviation Group (ADA) is backed by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and is expected to reshape Abu Dhabi’s urban transport, reducing congestion and enhancing connectivity.

The aircraft – known as ‘Midnight’ – is designed for back-to-back flights with minimal charging time, offering a sustainable and low-noise alternative for urban travel. Under the agreement, Archer and ADA will collaborate to create a commercial framework for deploying the Midnight in multiple early adopter markets.

By leveraging advanced air mobility, the city will move closer to its vision of smart and sustainable transportation solutions.
