Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Capital has secured a combined USD 5 billion commitment from US alternative asset manager Apollo and other strategic investors, expected at the transaction’s initial close.
Apollo will take a minority equity stake in the alternative asset management arm of Mubadala Investment Company, building on a relationship in which the two have previously worked together on seeding and scaling investment strategies. Existing equity holder Silver Rock Financial’s founders will be joined by additional minority shareholders.
Mubadala Investment Company retains majority ownership, and Mubadala Capital will keep its existing governance framework, with management retaining full authority over investment decisions. Founded in 2011, the firm manages more than USD 60bn across its core alternatives business and employs over 250 professionals across five global offices.
