UAE Capital Market Authority abolishes 15 fees in drive to reduce regulatory burden

The UAE Capital Market Authority (CMA) has eliminated 15 fees following a comprehensive review of its fee framework, with the board-approved decision aimed at lowering costs for licensed companies and individuals operating in the country's capital markets.

The review assessed each charge against current regulatory requirements, market developments, and the authority's operating model, resulting in the removal of fees no longer considered necessary. The initiative forms part of a broader ongoing effort by UAE regulators to strengthen the competitiveness of the country's financial markets and simplify the business environment without compromising regulatory oversight.

CEO Waleed Saeed Al Awadhi said the authority is committed to periodically reviewing its fee structure to ensure it keeps pace with capital market developments and responds to the operational needs of regulated entities. The changes are intended to support more resilient capital markets, improve service quality, and reduce the administrative and financial burden on firms and individuals licensed under the authority's supervision.
