UAE honours President Trump visit

The UAE has reaffirmed its commitment to invest $1.4tr in the US over the next decade, as part of strengthening bilateral economic and political ties. The announcement came during a landmark visit by US President Donald Trump to Abu Dhabi, where he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Only the second visit by a sitting American president to the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed awarded President Trump the Order of Zayed – the nation’s highest civilian honour. The medal is reserved for world leaders and distinguished dignitaries, and President Trump is the first US president to receive the award since George W. Bush in 2008.

During his visit, President Trump toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and was later introduced to four UAE astronauts, underlining the country’s ambitions in space exploration and its evolving partnership with the US.
