The UAE and the US have signed a Joint Statement of Intent to launch a bilateral cooperation programme focused on accelerating patent granting procedures in the UAE. This cooperation reflects the UAE’s broader strategy to strengthen its intellectual property ecosystem, particularly in industrial property rights.
The initiative, established between the UAE Ministry of Economy and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), will allow for collaborative mechanisms that recognise positive examination results issued by the USPTO for corresponding Emirati patent applications.
The programme positions the UAE as a regional leader in IP rights protection and a destination for knowledge-based investment.
