UAE SMEs enter 2025 with optimism

SMEs in the UAE are entering 2025 with strong confidence, driven by a thriving digital economy, strong government support and improved financial access, according to the latest Mastercard SME Confidence Index.

The survey reveals that 91% of SMEs in the UAE are optimistic about their business outlook, highlighting the nation’s entrepreneur-friendly ecosystem. Additionally, 90% expect equal or higher revenues this year compared to 2024.

This confidence is translating into expansion, with seven in 10 SMEs planning to seek credit in 2025 – primarily to scale operations rather than just sustain them. The report also underscores the growing importance of digital transformation, with 83% of SMEs prioritising digital payments as they adapt to evolving consumer behaviour.

As the country strengthens its position as a global business hub, its SMEs are set to play a crucial role in driving innovation, job creation, and long-term economic resilience.
