The UAE presented its labour market strategy at the 12th BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting, hosted by India in Hyderabad as part of its 2026 BRICS chairmanship. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led the UAE delegation, outlining an approach centred on public-private partnerships, agile legislation, worker protection, and the integration of artificial intelligence across labour market systems.
Central to the UAE's presentation was its AI-powered Emirates Skills Platform, designed to anticipate future job requirements and align education and training programmes with shifting labour market demand – part of a broader national strategy targeting 100% AI reliance in government services by 2031. The ministry has already processed over 11 million labour transactions instantly via digital systems, while AI-enabled inspections have improved efficiency by 40% and reduced repeat violations by 54%.
The meeting concluded with BRICS member states adopting a joint declaration covering social protection, skills development, women's workforce participation, and digital transformation – priorities the UAE affirmed its commitment to advancing in cooperation with fellow member states.
