UAE hackathon innovates in tax solutions

A two-day hackathon hosted by the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) showcased a variety of projects using AI, big data and cloud computing to improve the UAE’s tax services.

The event was part of UAE Innovation Month and the Year of Community and took place from 26-27 February at Dubai’s Al Shindagha Museum.

The event aimed to encourage innovation in tax solutions and encourage public-private collaboration. It attracted a wide range of participants including developers, AI specialists, designers, data scientists, university students, entrepreneurs, and fintech innovators.

A panel of experts evaluated the submitted projects based on creativity, quality, usability, and the extent to which they integrated advanced technologies. The solutions were centered on enhancing the taxpayer experience, promoting tax awareness, and using AI for better tax compliance.
