UAE defies global decline in trust

In a new report on trust and confidence, the UAE has far outperformed the global average. According to the latest Edelman Trust Barometer, 82% of UAE respondents trust their government - a figure which far surpasses the global government trust average of 52%.

As part of the research, the Edelman Trust Barometer surveyed over 33,000 respondents in 28 countries and highlighted a global crisis of trust, with confidence in institutions falling as people feel increasingly unheard and unprotected.

But in the UAE it's a different story. Businesses in the Emirates were also shown to enjoy strong credibility, with 76% of respondents expressing confidence in corporate institutions compared to a global average of 62%. At the level of the individual, teachers were the most trusted figures with an 85% approval rating, while 79% of respondents said they trusted their fellow citizens.
