The Qatar Investment Authority has formalised a USD 20 billion strategic partnership with J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM), signing a memorandum of understanding to establish a collaboration spanning public and private markets in equities and credit.
The larger component is a USD 15 billion public equities mandate under which JPMAM will manage customised global equity portfolios on behalf of QIA. A separate USD 5 billion private markets initiative will provide senior financing to middle-market companies in the US, focused on the industrials, services, healthcare and technology sectors.
The deal comes months after QIA signed a comparable USD 25 billion agreement with Goldman Sachs, underscoring the sovereign fund's deepening ties with Wall Street. QIA has nearly USD 580 billion in assets under management.
