OpenAI may be set to become a key partner in a planned 5-gigawatt data centre campus in Abu Dhabi. It comes to fruition, it could rank among the world’s largest AI infrastructure projects.
The project would potentially span an estimated 10 sq. miles and would eclipse any current AI facility developed by OpenAI or its competitors.
The development is thought to be tied to OpenAI’s collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s G42. The initiative forms part of the wider Stargate project, a global joint venture announced earlier this year by OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, aimed at constructing advanced data centres to power next-generation AI.
Neither OpenAI nor G42 has officially commented on the reported project.
