IMF chief praises UAE’s non-oil growth and AI leadership

IMF impressed by UAE's non-oil growth

The head of the International Monetary Fund has praised the UAE’s economic diversification, highlighting the strength of its non-oil economy and growing leadership in artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the Arab Fiscal Forum ahead of the World Governments Summit, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva described the UAE as a standout performer in the region, noting that around 80 per cent of its economic growth is driven by non-oil sectors. She said the country’s commitment to reform, technology adoption and innovation has set an example for other economies across the Middle East.

Ms Georgieva added that progress in diversification, improved financial conditions, and strong momentum in areas such as AI and tourism are reinforcing the UAE’s position as a resilient, forward-looking economy.
