Dubai is set to revolutionise urban transport with the introduction of an underground high-speed transit network, dubbed the ‘Dubai Loop’.
The project was announced during a virtual session at the World Governments Summit where Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama, unveiled plans for the new system.
Speaking on the final day of the summit, Musk described the initiative as a cutting-edge solution to urban congestion, aiming to connect Dubai’s most densely populated areas. The minister echoed Musk’s enthusiasm, stating that the project would enable people to travel across the city almost instantaneously, likening it to passing through a ‘wormhole’, bypassing long distances and traffic delays.
The collaboration between Musk and the UAE government signals a step towards redefining urban transit, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a hub for innovation and future-ready infrastructure.
