Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recorded the world’s lowest electricity Customer Minutes Lost (CML) in 2024. The authority reported 0.94 minutes of downtime per customer, underscoring its commitment to delivering top-tier service and operational efficiency.
This new benchmark improves upon DEWA’s previous record of 1.06 minutes per customer in 2023 and far outperforms the industry standard in the European Union, where utility providers typically report around 15 minutes of annual electricity downtime per customer.
A key factor behind this success is Dubai’s Smart Grid initiative, which is being rolled out in phases with a total investment of $1.9bn through to 2035. The Smart Grid enhances the efficiency of electricity transmission and distribution, minimises energy losses, and optimises load management, contributing significantly to the reliability of Dubai’s power supply.
