Dubai has approved the New Fourth Corridor, an 80km road project running from Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah.
The corridor will feature 12 lanes in both directions, 72 bridges, and 17 tunnels, with capacity for 24,000 vehicles per hour. Journey times along the route are projected to fall by up to 60%, with the corridor expected to serve more than 3.1 million people.
The project will be delivered in two phases: the first, from Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah to Dubai-Al Ain Road, is estimated at AED 3.5 billion; costs for the second phase, extending to Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi, were not disclosed. The corridor will also integrate with Al Maktoum International Airport and the Etihad Rail network.
