The Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) has signed an agreement with Elon Musk’s The Boring Company to assess underground transport, utility tunnels and related infrastructure across the emirate.
The partnership will examine feasibility, delivery and operation across tunnel planning, boring technologies, construction methods, safety, maintenance and automation, alongside local skills development. The initiative remains exploratory, with no routes, budget or timeline disclosed.
ADPIC oversees an infrastructure portfolio worth more than USD 56 billion. The move follows Dubai’s separate Dubai Loop project with the RTA, whose AED 565 million first phase covers a 6.4km, four-station pilot linking DIFC and Dubai Mall, and comes a month after a UAE-led USD 3 billion funding round in the company.
