UAE launches world’s most powerful small AI models

The UAE’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) has launched Falcon 3, the latest advance in its open-source large language model (LLM) series, marking a significant breakthrough in AI. Developed under Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council, Falcon 3 delivers cutting-edge performance in small AI models while being accessible on lightweight infrastructures, including laptops.

The new LLM is trained on 14 trillion tokens (a token is a word, a character, or a sequence of characters), which is nearly triple that of its predecessor. Falcon 3 will rank among the top LLMs globally that can run on a single GPU, the initiative underscoring TII’s commitment to democratising access to powerful AI tools.

The Falcon 3 series supports multiple languages, including English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and is fully compatible with widely used APIs and libraries, simplifying integration for developers. It features both Base and Instruct models, tailored for tasks ranging from general-purpose generation to instruction-based interactions.

Falcon 3’s capabilities position it as a transformative tool for businesses and individuals alike, excelling in language understanding, code generation, and mathematical reasoning. By empowering users with powerful yet efficient AI, TII hopes to bridge gaps in technological access and encourage innovation on a global scale.

The models are available for download now on HuggingFace and at FalconLLM.TII.ae, offering the AI community a powerful resource to explore and utilise.
